Destruction Ceremony of Smuggled Confiscated/Contraband Goods - Collectorate of Customs (Enforcement), Islamabad

The Collectorate of Customs (Enforcement), Islamabad, organized a Destruction Ceremony of Confiscated Smuggled Contraband Goods at the Islamabad Dry Port, H-9/4, Islamabad, on Tuesday, June 30, 2026.

During the ceremony, confiscated smuggled goods worth approximately Rs. 800 million were destroyed after the completion of all legal formalities in accordance with the relevant provisions of the law. The destroyed goods included liquor, mobile phones, cigarettes, food items, and other prohibited articles.

The ceremony was attended by officers and officials of the Collectorate of Customs (Enforcement), Islamabad. Mr. Basit Maqsood Abbasi, Chief Collector of Customs (Enforcement), graced the occasion as the Chief Guest.

Addressing the participants, Mr. Basit Maqsood Abbasi reiterated that Pakistan Customs maintains a zero-tolerance policy against smuggling and continues to conduct vigorous anti-smuggling operations across the country to curb the illegal movement of goods. He observed that smuggling not only causes substantial losses to the national exchequer but also undermines legitimate businesses, local industry, and the overall economy.

The Chief Collector emphasized that Pakistan Customs remains fully committed to strengthening border controls, enhancing intelligence-driven enforcement, and ensuring the effective implementation of customs laws. He affirmed that no effort would be spared in dismantling smuggling networks and bringing those involved in illicit trade to justice. He also appreciated the Collectorate's successful enforcement efforts and encouraged its officers and officials to continue discharging their responsibilities with honesty, integrity, and professionalism.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Rizwan Salabat, Collector, Collectorate of Customs (Enforcement), Islamabad, reaffirmed the Collectorate's unwavering commitment to eliminating the menace of smuggling within its jurisdiction. He stated that the Collectorate is intensifying intelligence-led operations, strengthening coordination with other law enforcement agencies, and enhancing surveillance to effectively counter smuggling activities.

Mr. Rizwan Salabat further emphasized that the Collectorate would continue to pursue a zero-tolerance approach against all forms of smuggling and take strict legal action against those involved in illicit trade.

The ceremony concluded with the destruction of the confiscated goods, reflecting Pakistan Customs' firm resolve to enforce customs laws, safeguard the national economy, and combat smuggling through sustained and effective enforcement measures.
