International Women’s Day is both a celebration and a reminder of our collective responsibility to ensure that women and girls have equal opportunities to learn, lead, and innovate in every sphere of life, including the rapidly evolving digital world.
This year’s theme, ‘Rights. Justice. Action. For ALL Women and Girls,’ underscores the need to translate commitments into meaningful progress. In the digital age, access to technology, digital literacy, and safe online spaces are essential for empowering women and girls to fully participate in economic, educational, and social life.
Across Pakistan, women are increasingly making their mark in technology, entrepreneurship, and digital innovation. Their talent, creativity, and leadership are helping to drive progress and strengthen our nation’s digital future. However, challenges remain. The limited access to opportunities, and online harassment continue to affect many women and girls.
As Federal Minister for IT and Telecommunication, I reaffirm our commitment to expanding digital inclusion, promoting women’s participation in the technology sector, and ensuring safer online environments. Through initiatives that enhance digital skills, support women-led innovation, and strengthen protections against online harassment, we aim to create a digital ecosystem where women and girls can learn, work, and lead with confidence.
On this International Women’s Day, let us renew our resolve to empower women and girls through technology and innovation, and work together to build a more inclusive, secure, and equitable digital future for Pakistan.
