Message from Senator Azam Nazeer Tarar, Federal Minister for Human Rights On International Women’s Day – 8 March

Islamabad: March 07, 2026

“International Women’s Day is both a moment of celebration and a call to conscience. It is a day to honor the courage, resilience, and extraordinary contributions of women and girls who continue to shape our families, communities, and nation with strength and determination. It is also a reminder that the pursuit of equality and dignity for all women remains an ongoing responsibility.

This year’s theme, “Rights. Justice. Action. For ALL Women and Girls, calls on us to move beyond words and ensure that every woman and girl can live with dignity, free from discrimination, violence and injustice, and with equal opportunities to thrive.

Across Pakistan, women continue to break barriers and inspire change. Yet many still face serious challenges, including gender-based violence, harassment, exploitation and emerging threats such as cyber harassment and online abuse that disproportionately affect women and girls. Addressing these challenges requires stronger protections, greater awareness, and collective action to ensure that both physical and digital spaces remain safe and respectful for all.

As Federal Minister for Human Rights, I reaffirm our commitment to strengthening protections, advancing equality, and ensuring that women and girls have full access to their rights and opportunities.

On this day, let us renew our pledge to stand with women and girls everywhere and work together to build a more just, inclusive, and equitable society for all.”
