Federal Minister for National Heritage and Culture Division, Aurangzeb Khan Khichi, has taken serious notice of reports circulating on social and mainstream media regarding the damage caused to the historic Katas Raj Temple in Chakwal. Heavy torrential rains in the region have put the centuries-old temple complex under significant threat, raising alarms about the state of this vital national heritage site.
In response, the minister has written to the Evacuee Trust Property Board and other concerned authorities, directing them to submit a comprehensive report on the current status of the site. The Katas Raj complex, a sacred place for the Hindu community and a symbol of Pakistan’s rich multicultural history, has reportedly faced structural stress due to water seepage and flooding.
Minister Khichi assured the federal government’s full cooperation in preserving and restoring the temple and its surrounding structures. He stressed that this unique cultural asset must be protected for future generations, pledging all possible support for its upkeep, and calling the Katas Raj Temple a shared national treasure.
