PR No.19 GOVERNMENT WANT TO STRENGTHEN ROLE OF THE OMBUDSMAN LAW MINISTER Islamabad

The Law Reforms Committee in its meeting held on 02nd February, 2017, discussed the proposal for amendment in the Establishment of the Office of Wafaqi Mohtasib (Ombudsman) Order, 1983. Representatives of Wafaqi Mohtasib (Ombudsman)’s Office attended the meeting. The Federal Minister for Law/Chairman LRC pointed out that in accordance with the manifesto of the PML (N), the Government wished to strengthen and enhance the role of the Ombudsman so as to provide speedy relief in respect of public complaints regarding maladministration. Law Minister said that Various proposals in this regard including the proposal for establishment of District Ombudsman are being discussed with the relevant stakeholders including representatives of the Wafaqi Mohtasib (Ombudsman). Zahid Hamid said that views have also been invited from the representatives of the Ombudsman.
