President Mamnoon Hussain has emphasized on upholding the supremacy and sovereignty of parliament and its role to enact laws for the betterment of the people.

The President said this while talking to Speaker National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq who called on him at the Aiwan-e-Sadr on Wednesday.

The President congratulated Sardar Ayaz Sadiq on getting re-elected as Speaker National Assembly and hoped that his election would play a significant role in promotion of democratic values and traditions in the House. The President noted that Sardar Ayaz Sadiq has been elected by the House with heavy mandate adding that this is an important step toward democratic stability. The President wished Speaker National Assembly well in the discharge of his new responsibilities.

Speaker National Assembly, Sardar Ayaz Sadiq thanked the President and said that he would continue playing his role for effective functioning of the House and supremacy of the Constitution.
