PR No.71 “Intellectual Property Regime Is A Priority For Us In Order To Become A Knowledge Economy Under The Vision 2025” PROF. Ahsan Iqbal Islamabad

Prof. Ahsan Iqbal, Federal Minister for Planning, Development & Reform chaired the first joint workshop session of Intellectual Property Organization (IPO) here in Ministry today. While appreciating the efforts of the IPO, Prof. Ahsan said, “Pakistan is predicted to be the next emerging economy of South Asia. This fact is evident from all the key indicators of national progress.”

“Public confidence in Government policies has made it possible to resurrect the national assets in shape of economy, tourism, culture, cinema and sports. It is high time that Pakistan has fully and effectively functioning Intellectual Property Organization, which will enhance the potential participation of talented and skilled workers of the country for research based and technical progress,” said the Minister.

While encouraging the IPO Director and rest of the participants of the workshop, Prof. Ahsan Iqbal directed for having regular meetings of IPO and the Planning Ministry for streamlining the efforts of IPO and making their benefits available to the public. He also directed the IPO Director to convene an exclusive Seminar in near future for the Women Chamber of Commerce at a place of their convenience. “This will give awareness to the women, who have a vital role to play in progress of our economy. Today, women have become part of the economy of the country through their entrepreneurship qualities and in other key fields. Without empowering the major chunk of our population, we may not be able to flourish as we foresee in our Vision 2025,” added Prof. Ahsan Iqbal.
