The Central Development Working Partyon Friday approved three projects worth Rs3.625 billion, and referred two projects worth Rs72.50 billion to the Executive Committee of the National Economic Council.

The meeting, which was chaired by Minister Planning, Development and Reform Prof Ahsan Iqbal, also gave its nod to the concept clearance of the Pakistan Disaster Risk Management Project and position paper concerning the Governance section.

Three projects of the Physical Planning and Housing sector were approved, for which the sponsoring agency was the Ministry of Interior. Block allocations of Rs2.5 billion for each project have been made in the Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP) 2015-16.

Two projects of transport and communication sector, relating to connecting road of the New Islamabad International Airport, were referred to the ECNEC. The first project ‘Road Network for New Islamabad International Airport (Main Link-1 And Periphery Road length 26 km) will be completed with a total cost of Rs12.67 billion, and an amount of Rs700 million has been already allocated in the PSDP 2015-16. The second project ‘Land Acquisition Affected Properties Compensation and Relocation of Utilities for Construction of Approach Roads to New International Islamabad Airport (NIIA) Revised’ will be completed at a total cost of Rs59.80 billion, and Rs1 billion has been allocated in the PSDP 2015-16. The sponsoring agency for these projects is the Communications Division.
