Pakistan joins the international community in celebrating United Nations Day 2026, marking the eighty-first anniversary of the UN Charter.
On this historic day, we reaffirm our abiding commitment to the purposes and principles of the UN Charter, especially the sovereign equality of all states, and non-interference in their internal affairs, as well as the right of peoples to self-determination, and peaceful settlement of disputes.
However, it is noted with concern that many of the cardinal principles of the UN Charter continue to be violated with impunity, across the world, most blatantly in the Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) and Occupied Palestine.
As we commemorate this important occasion, we recall and pay tribute to those hundreds of UN peacekeepers and UN personnel, especially from Pakistan, who offered the ultimate sacrifice, in the line of duty. Pakistan has been one of the largest contributor to the UN global peacekeeping missions. Pakistan takes immense pride for its services under the Blue helmets as an effort to ensure international peace.
Pakistan acknowledges and commends the critical role of the United Nations varied agencies, and their assistance programmes, in addressing humanitarian challenges, promoting health and education, and supporting development priorities across the globe especially in developing countries.
Pakistan remains committed to multilateralism and to its strong adherence to the belief that the United Nations must remain at the centre of international efforts, and spearhead global endeavors to address numerous challenges being faced by the world today. Pakistan reaffirms its resolve to continue working with all the Member States and the United Nations, in this regard, with the ultimate goal of realizing the UN Charter's vision of peace, and prosperity for all.
