In a major collaborative step to facilitate traders and ensure effective implementation of the Asaan Tax Scheme, the Government and leadership of trade organizations have agreed that officials of the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR), together with trader representatives, will visit markets across all four provinces to facilitate and register shopkeepers under the Asaan Tax Scheme.
The decision was taken during a review meeting on the progress of the Asaan Tax Scheme, chaired by the Minister of State for Finance and Railways, Bilal Azhar Kayani. The high-level meeting was attended by key trade leaders, including Ajmal Baloch and Kashif Chaudhry, as well as FBR Member Inland Revenue Operations Zubair Bilal, along with senior officials, Chief Commissioners, and heads of the Regional Tax Office (RTO) Islamabad and Rawalpindi. Chiefs and officials of RTOs and Corporate Tax Offices (CTOs) nationwide participated via video link to report on implementation progress and performance within their respective jurisdictions.
The meeting reviewed the performance of RTOs and CTOs so far regarding the Asaan Tax Scheme and progress in its implementation.
Under the newly agreed strategy, local trader representatives and FBR field officers will coordinate schedules to visit designated markets together and facilitate on-site registration of shopkeepers. Trader representatives and FBR officials will jointly develop a strategy for providing registration facilities in markets within their respective areas.
Minister Bilal Azhar Kayani confirmed that progress would be rigorously monitored, and announced another follow-up review meeting next week under his chairmanship to evaluate progress.
During the session, feedback collected from traders on the Asaan Tax Scheme so far was thoroughly evaluated. Addressing the attendees, Minister Kayani reiterated that the government, under the patronage of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, fulfilled its promise by launching the Asaan Tax Scheme specifically in response to the demands of the business community. He highlighted a symbolic milestone, noting that the first official registration plate under the scheme was installed in Islamabad today, marking the fulfillment of the government’s commitment.

He further said that registration plates would be installed tomorrow at the shops of traders who have become part of the Asaan Tax Scheme across the country.
Minister Kayani emphasized that the initiative will help broaden the tax base and facilitate traders by making tax compliance easier. Reaffirming the administration’s resolve, he assured that progress on the Asaan Tax Scheme would be reviewed continuously and every possible effort would be made to ensure the success of this historic initiative.
