The role of the audit institution is vital in promoting transparency, accountability, financial discipline and good governance in public sector organizations. This was stated by the Honourable Auditor-General of Pakistan, Mr. Maqbool Ahmad Gondal, while addressing the inaugural ceremony of the AGP Audit Complex in Islamabad today.
Mr. Maqbool Ahmad Gondal said that the inauguration of the AGP Audit Complex marks an important step towards providing improved workplace facilities and strengthening the operational capacity of the audit institution in Islamabad.
The Auditor-General highlighted the importance of strengthening institutional capacity and providing a conducive, modern and well-equipped working environment for audit officers and staff. He reiterated that all-out efforts would be made to provide digital and modern equipment, conducive working facilities and capacity-building training programmes to enhance the professional capabilities of the audit workforce.
He emphasized that effective audit, transparency, accountability and financial discipline are key to strengthening the national economy, safeguarding public resources and protecting the public exchequer.
The Auditor-General of Pakistan also visited the facilities of the newly established complex, including the mosque and Day-Care Centre, and appreciated the provision of modern facilities for officers and staff.
Earlier, the ceremony commenced with flag hoisting, followed by the recitation of the Holy Quran and the National Anthem. The Honourable Auditor-General formally inaugurated the Audit Complex through ribbon-cutting and unveiling of the commemorative plaque.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by senior officers of the Department of the Auditor-General of Pakistan, including the Directors General Audit (P&TS), Audit (Power), Audit (PNR), and Audit (Climate Change & Environment), besides other senior officials and distinguished guests.
