The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Norway, H.E. Mr. Espen Barth Eide, called on Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif at the Prime Minister House, today.
The Prime Minister welcomed the Norwegian Foreign Minister and expressed satisfaction at the warm and cordial ties between Pakistan and Norway. He noted with appreciation, Norway's bilateral cooperation with Pakistan, particularly in the areas of education, skilled labour, climate resilience, and technology. While expressing Pakistan's strong desire to enhance bilateral trade with Norway, the Prime Minister invited Norwegian companies to invest in oil & gas exploration in Pakistan.
During discussions on the regional and global situation, the Prime Minister deeply appreciated Norway's strong and principled stand in support of Palestine. He also thanked Norway for its consistent support to Pakistan's regional peace efforts in the Gulf region.
The Norwegian Foreign Minister thanked the Prime Minister for the warm reception accorded to him and conveyed the good wishes of Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre to the Prime Minister. He praised Pakistan for playing a significant role in the regional peace efforts and reaffirmed Norway's interest in further strengthening bilateral ties across diverse sectors. The Minister particularly appreciated the positive contribution of the Pakistani diaspora in Norway.
The Prime Minister extended an invitation to the Norwegian Prime Minister to undertake an official visit to Pakistan.
The senior Federal Ministers, including Deputy Prime Minister & Foreign Minister Sen. Mohammad Ishaq Dar, Minister for Commerce Jam Kamal Khan, Minister for Climate Change Dr. Musadik Malik, Minister for Overseas Pakistanis & Human Resource Development Chaudhry Salik Hussain, SAPM Tariq Fatemi and other officials were also present.
