The National Highway Authority (NHA) has intensified emergency clearance and restoration work on major highway networks across Gilgit-Baltistan following recent heavy rainfall, mudflows, and severe landslides. NHA field teams and heavy machinery remain fully deployed across all affected areas to ensure the prompt restoration of safe traffic flow.
According to the NHA spokesperson, clearance and debris removal operations have commenced at the bridge located on the Gilgit side of the Jaglot-Skardu Road (JSR). Heavy machinery dispatched from Shutot is currently clearing landslides between KM 16 (Ansar Camp) and KM 25 (Hanochal). Immediately after clearing the route at KM 25, restoration work will be initiated on the Skardu side (Abutment 2).
The spokesperson added that machinery has also been actively deployed at KM 118+600 on the Gilgit-Shandur Road (GSR), with the affected section expected to be fully reopened for traffic soon. The NHA remains dedicated to ensuring uninterrupted mobility across all national highways.
