The Federal Constitutional Court of Pakistan (FCCP) is pleased to announce that it has been unanimously admitted as an Observer to the Conference of Constitutional Jurisdictions of the Turkic World (TÜRK-AY), marking a significant milestone in the Court's growing engagement with the international constitutional justice community.
The Conference of Constitutional Jurisdictions of the Turkic World (TÜRK-AY) was established on 27 April 2022 in Istanbul, Türkiye, as a regional platform to foster cooperation among the constitutional courts of the Turkic world. TÜRK-AY comprises the constitutional courts of Türkiye, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, and Uzbekistan as its full members.
The decision was formally communicated through a letter from Mr. Farhad Abdullayev, Chairman of the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Azerbaijan and Term President of TÜRK-AY, addressed to Honourable Chief Justice Amin-ud-Din Khan, Federal Constitutional Court of Pakistan.
According to the communication, the admission of the Federal Constitutional Court of Pakistan as an Observer was unanimously approved by the Member Courts of TÜRK-AY pursuant to Article 10.4 of the Statute of the Organization.
In his letter, Chairman Abdullayev extended warm congratulations and a heartfelt welcome to the Federal Constitutional Court of Pakistan, expressing confidence that the Court's distinguished expertise, valuable knowledge, and esteemed reputation would make a meaningful contribution to the work of TÜRK-AY. He further conveyed his expectation that Pakistan's participation would foster rewarding cooperation, mutual understanding, and productive institutional relations founded upon shared constitutional values.
The Honourable Chief Justice welcomed this important development, describing the unanimous admission as a reflection of the international confidence reposed in Pakistan's constitutional jurisprudence and the Federal Constitutional Court's commitment to promoting the rule of law, constitutional governance, and judicial cooperation across jurisdictions.
Observer status in TÜRK-AY will provide the Federal Constitutional Court of Pakistan with an important platform to engage with constitutional courts of the Turkic world, exchange judicial experiences and best practices, participate in academic and institutional dialogue, and contribute to the advancement of constitutional justice through international collaboration.
