A high-level delegation of the Islamabad Bar Council (IBC), led by the Chairman Bar Council and Vice Chairman, called on the Hon’ble Chief Justice of the Federal Constitutional Court of Pakistan, Justice Amin-ud-Din Khan, at the FCCP today.
The delegation extended congratulations and warm greetings to the Hon’ble Chief Justice on the successful inauguration and commencement of functioning of the Federal Constitutional Court of Pakistan. They appreciated the swift and effective operationalization of the Court, particularly acknowledging its growing performance in reducing case backlog through expedited judicial processes.
During the meeting, the Hon’ble Chief Justice reaffirmed the Federal Constitutional Court’s constitutional mandate in upholding judicial supremacy, ensuring constitutional interpretation with institutional expertise, and strengthening the rule of law. He emphasized that the Court is committed to delivering timely and effective justice in accordance with constitutional principles.
The Hon’ble Chief Justice also lauded the Islamabad Bar Council for its continued contribution to the legal profession. He acknowledged its role in laying the foundational groundwork for young lawyers and representing the collective interests of the legal community. He particularly appreciated the Council’s initiative of conducting a two-week training program for newly enrolled lawyers, terming it a valuable contribution to professional development.
The Hon’ble Chief Justice remarked that courts and judicial academies together form the essential bridge between theoretical legal education and practical courtroom experience.
Emphasizing professional development within the legal fraternity, the Hon’ble Chief Justice underscored the importance of strengthening advocacy skills, particularly cross-examination techniques. He observed that the legal profession in Pakistan must focus on capacity-building in this critical area to enhance the quality of justice delivery.
The discussion further included a candid exchange on the strengths and challenges within the existing judicial system. The delegation and the Hon’ble Chief Justice jointly stressed the need for reforms aimed at improving efficiency, transparency, and public trust in the justice system.
The Islamabad Bar Council delegation noted that, particularly after the 26th Constitutional Amendment, there has been visible improvement in judicial responsiveness and institutional coordination, contributing positively to the justice delivery system.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the delegation also extended a formal invitation to the Hon’ble Chief Justice to attend the Islamabad Bar Council’s upcoming license distribution ceremony, reflecting the strong institutional relationship between the judiciary and the legal fraternity.
