PR No. 245

Islamabad: April 22, 2026

On the completion of one year of the Pahalgam incident, Chairman Senate Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani has strongly reaffirmed Pakistan’s principled stance while condemning India’s reckless conduct, escalation-driven policies, and persistent attempt to distort facts and shift responsibility for regional instability.

He reiterated that Pakistan exercised maximum restraint despite grave provocations, while remaining fully prepared to defend its sovereignty and territorial integrity. He emphasized that Pakistan’s response during the Pakistan–India standoff was measured, responsible, and fully in line with the international law.

He paid strong tribute to the professionalism and resolve of the Pakistan Armed Forces, stating that their readiness and deterrent capability have decisively safeguarded national sovereignty and neutralized hostile designs in a volatile environment.

The Chairman Senate recalled that Pakistan had immediately offered a neutral and transparent investigation into the incident, stressing that only a credible, evidence-based inquiry can establish facts and prevent escalation. He noted that responsible states do not resort to unilateral judgment or politicisation of tragic events.

He strongly condemned India’s unilateral and adventurist actions, including “Operation Sindoor,” terming them reckless and destabilizing, and warning that such conduct threatens regional peace and strategic balance.

He further expressed serious concern over continued interference and support to hostile elements operating against Pakistan, describing such actions as a direct violation of sovereignty and international norms.

He also cautioned against attempts to undermine the Indus Waters Treaty, stating that such coercive measures amount to dangerous escalation and risk regional stability and resource security.

Reaffirming Pakistan’s position, he stressed that while Pakistan remains committed to peace, it will respond firmly, proportionately, and decisively to any aggression or adventurism.

He concluded that Pakistan will continue to safeguard its sovereignty and national interests with full resolve and will firmly counter any attempt to destabilize the region or misrepresent facts internationally.
