HIGH LEVEL PARLIAMENTARY DELEGATION TO PARTICIPATE IN ANNUAL PARLIAMENTARY HEARING AT THE UN

United Nations: February 12, 2026

A high-level parliamentary delegation led by Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani, Chairman Senate of Pakistan, will represent the country at the Annual Parliamentary Hearing at the United Nations.

The delegation will participate in several sessions over the course of two days on February 12 and 13, which include “The UN at 80: Renewing trust and purpose through cooperation and partnership; Translating global commitments into national realities; Protecting democracy from within: Parliamentary safeguards responsibilities and renewal in times of democratic erosion and Financing and future-proofing the United Nations.

The Chairman Senate will meet with the President of the UN General Assembly as well as the President of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) on the sidelines of the Annual Hearing.

Senator Farooq H. Naek, Senator Muhammad Adbul Qadir, Syed Faisal Ali Subzwari, are part of the parliamentary delegation.

The Annual IPU Parliamentary Hearing 2026 is a high-level global forum jointly organized by the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) and the United Nations, which brings together parliamentarians from across the world with senior UN officials, diplomats, experts, and civil society representatives.

The Annual Hearing is scheduled to take place on 12–13 February 2026 at the UN Headquarters in New York, which provides a vital platform for dialogue on pressing international challenges and on strengthening cooperation between national parliaments and the UN system.

Held under the theme “Parliaments and the United Nations: Better together, delivering for the people,” the 2026 session will focus on advancing peace, sustainable development, democratic governance, and effective multilateralism, including contributions to the UN’s Pact for the Future and broader reform efforts.

The Annual Parliamentary Hearing, rooted in a long-standing UN General Assembly mandate, underscores the growing importance of parliamentary diplomacy and the role of elected representatives in shaping inclusive, people-centered global solutions.
