Chairman Senate of Pakistan, Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani, has concluded an official visit to Cambodia aimed at strengthening parliamentary diplomacy and enhancing bilateral cooperation between the two countries.
During the visit, the Chairman Senate held a series of high-level meetings with senior Cambodian leadership, including his parliamentary counterpart, where discussions focused on expanding cooperation in the areas of parliamentary exchanges, trade, investment, regional connectivity, and people-to-people contacts. Both sides underscored the importance of sustained dialogue between legislatures to promote mutual understanding and shared development goals.
Chairman Gilani highlighted Pakistan’s commitment to deepening engagement with ASEAN member states and emphasized the role of parliamentary diplomacy in complementing government-to-government relations. He noted that regular interactions between parliaments contribute to closer ties between peoples and help translate diplomatic goodwill into tangible cooperation.
As part of the visit, Chairman Senate hosted a breakfast meeting in honour of Cambodian parliamentary leaders and senior officials, providing an opportunity for informal and candid exchanges on regional and global developments, as well as avenues for future collaboration. During the meeting , Cambodian side announced the decision to host ISC - 2026 in Cambodia.
The Cambodian side welcomed the visit and reaffirmed its desire to strengthen relations with Pakistan, particularly through enhanced parliamentary cooperation and institutional linkages.
The visit reflects Pakistan’s broader diplomatic outreach in Southeast Asia and reinforces the Senate of Pakistan’s proactive role in advancing foreign relations through parliamentary engagement.
