Kashmir Solidarity Day was observed today at the High Commission of Pakistan in Kuala Lumpur to reaffirm solidarity with the people of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir.
The event was attended by representatives from Malaysian think tanks, academia, and civil society, along with media representatives and members of the Pakistani community.
Distinguished speakers at the occasion included Cikgu Azmi Abdul Hamid, Sitara-e-Pakistan, President of the Malaysian Consultative Council of Islamic Organizations; Mr. Chua Tian Chang, former Member of Parliament and social activist; and Professor Dr. Ahmad Fauzi Abdul Hamid of University Sains Malaysia and the University of Malaya. Tuan Haji Mohd Jamaludin Shamsudin, CEO of the Allied Coordinating Committee of Islamic NGOs (ACCIN) and Datuk Mustafa Kamil Bin Ayoub, Chairman of National Institute of Entrepreneurship (INSKEN) also attended the event.
The speakers highlighted the historic injustices being faced by the people of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir and called upon the United Nations and the international community to honour their commitment to the people of Kashmir. They emphasized that Kashmir dispute could only be resolved by the holding of a free and impartial plebiscite in accordance with the United Nations Security Council Resolutions allowing the people of Kashmir to decide their own future. They also stressed that the people of Malaysia and the Muslim Ummah stands firmly behind the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
Speaking on the occasion, High Commissioner of Pakistan, Syed Ahsan Raza Shah reiterated Pakistan’s unwavering support for the people of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir in their just struggle for freedom against Indian occupation. He emphasized that Pakistan would continue to extend diplomatic, moral, and political support to the Kashmiri people. The High Commissioner also expressed his gratitude for the Government and people of Malaysia and the Malaysian scholars for their principled stance and their strong solidarity with the people of Kashmir.
Participants also viewed a photo gallery on Kashmir depicting human rights violations and atrocities being committed by Indian occupation forces in Jammu and Kashmir.
