PAKISTAN CUSTOMS DESTROYS PROHIBITED, EXPIRED AND HAZARDOUS GOODS WORTH Rs. 3.92 BILLION

The Collectorate of Customs (Enforcement), Karachi, in collaboration with the Collectorate of Customs (Airports), Karachi, conducted a joint ceremony for destruction of prohibited, expired, and hazardous goods under the Customs Act, 1969, safeguarding public health and government revenue.

The destroyed goods had been lawfully seized after completion of all legal formalities, and were disposed of in compliance with CGO 12/2002 and other applicable laws. The ceremony took place at Plot No. 243, Deh Narathar, Gadap Town, Karachi, under strict supervision to ensure transparency, legal compliance, and environmental protection.

The event was attended by the Collector Customs Enforcement Karachi, Collector Customs (Airports) Karachi, and senior officials from Sindh Rangers, FIA, and Sindh Police.

Items destroyed included betel nuts, gutka, alcohol, Ajinomoto salt, cigarettes, tobacco products, animal vaccines, heroin, hashish, and other harmful goods banned under the Import Policy Order 2022. The total value of the destroyed goods was approximately Rs. 3.92 billion.

Such initiatives underscore FBR’s commitment to curbing smuggling, illicit trade and ensuring safety to public health.
