Federal Minister for Poverty Alleviation and Social Safety, Syed Imran Ahmed Shah, today formally inaugurated the WAPDA Customer Facilitation Center at DC Office Chowk, Sahiwal.

Addressing the inauguration ceremony, the Federal Minister described the new facility as a valuable gift for the people of Sahiwal, designed to resolve all WAPDA-related issues under one roof. He said the center would save citizens from repeated visits to different offices and ensure timely resolution of their concerns.

The Minister informed that the Customer Facilitation Center will remain open throughout the week to maximize public convenience. Citizens can submit applications for new electricity connections, register complaints, request temporary or permanent disconnections, seek extensions in bill payment dates, obtain duplicate bills, and address all other electricity-related matters at the center.

On the occasion, Member Provincial Assembly Qasim Nadeem, leaders of Pakistan Muslim League (N), Chief Executive Officer MEPCO, Engineer Gul Muhammad Zahid, and senior WAPDA officials were also present.

The Federal Minister stated that the center has been established in line with the vision of Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif and the Federal Ministry of Energy and Power Division to ensure swift redressal of electricity-related complaints. He emphasized that serving the people is a core priority of the government, and providing improved public services to the citizens of Sahiwal remains a shared responsibility.

Residents warmly welcomed the initiative, appreciating the government’s efforts and expressing hope that the new center would significantly reduce electricity-related issues in the city.

Later, the Federal Minister inaugurated the extension of the electric bus route from Sahiwal to Gamber. Member Provincial Assembly Pir Wilayat Shah Khagga accompanied him on the occasion. The Minister also traveled on the electric bus along the extended route.

While addressing local residents, Syed Imran Ahmed Shah said that the government is taking practical steps to provide modern, comfortable, and environmentally friendly transport facilities to the public. He noted that extending the electric bus route to Gamber would benefit thousands of residents in the area.

He added that the project would not only offer affordable and quality transport but also contribute to a significant reduction in environmental pollution, reflecting the government’s commitment to sustainable development.

Local residents expressed gratitude to their political leadership, termed the extension of the electric bus route a positive and timely step, and welcomed the initiative with optimism for improved daily commuting.
