On direction of Prime Minister, Pak NDMA Launches Humanitarian Relief Operation for Flood-Affected people in Sri Lanka in close coordination with Armed Forces

Islamabad: November 29, 2025

Demonstrating unwavering solidarity with the people of Sri Lanka in the wake of recent catastrophic floods, the Government of Pakistan has launched a comprehensive humanitarian assistance operation. Acting on the special directives of the Prime Minister, National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), in close coordination with the Pakistan Armed Forces, has finalized arrangements for the immediate dispatch of relief aid and an Urban Search and Rescue (USAR) team to Sri Lanka.

The initial consignment, comprising 100 tons of essential relief supplies, will be accompanied by a 45-member Pakistan Army USAR team. The relief flight is scheduled to depart from Nur Khan Airbase to Colombo on 30 November 2025 via a C-130 aircraft.

Chairman NDMA Lieutenant General Inam Haider Malik, HI(M) will oversee the dispatch of the relief mission. The departure ceremony will be held tomorrow at Nur Khan Base which will be attended by senior officials from the Prime Minister’s Office, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, NDMA and the diplomatic representatives.

The relief package includes critical life-saving and support items such as rescue boats, dewatering pumps, life jackets, family tents, blankets, quilts, bubble mats, mosquito nets, infant formula, dry food rations, and essential medicines. Additionally, a mobile field hospital is being deployed to provide immediate medical care to those affected by the floods.

Pakistan reaffirms its steadfast commitment to supporting the brotherly nation of Sri Lanka during this time of crisis and will continue to extend humanitarian assistance in the days ahead.
