Rana Tanveer Hussain emphasizes modernization of agriculture through hybrid seeds

Federal Minister for National Food Security & Research, Rana Tanveer Hussain, held a high-level meeting with a delegation of Corteva Agriscience (Singapore) Pte. Ltd., led by Mr. Bryce Sturgess, Commercial Director for Southeast Asian Markets.

The Minister was briefed on the company’s hybrid seed technology which has the potential to increase agricultural productivity by up to 32 percent. The delegation also shared details of their initiatives and investment plans in Pakistan’s agriculture sector.

Speaking on the occasion, Rana Tanveer Hussain said that Pakistan’s agriculture sector requires modernization and innovative approaches to meet the challenges of food security, climate change, and increasing population needs. He emphasized that hybrid seed technology, along with improved agronomic practices, can substantially increase farmers’ income, reduce crop losses, and improve national food self-sufficiency.

The Minister reaffirmed the government’s commitment to creating an enabling environment for agricultural innovation and private sector investment. He assured the delegation that the Ministry will extend full support to implement new ideas, especially in the promotion of hybrid seeds.

Rana Tanveer Hussain also stressed the importance of public-private partnerships in strengthening rural economies, creating employment opportunities, and enhancing Pakistan’s export potential in agriculture. He said the government is committed to farmer-centric policies where advanced technologies, mechanization, and climate-smart solutions will play a central role.

The Minister lauded the initiatives of Corteva in bringing advanced agricultural solutions to Pakistan and expressed optimism that such collaborations will help transform the country’s agriculture sector into a more productive, sustainable, and globally competitive industry.
