The High Commission for Pakistan and the three Consulates General in Canada celebrated the 79th Independence Day of Pakistan and the “Marka-e-Haq” today with zeal and enthusiasm paying rich tribute to Pakistan’s founding fathers, the Armed Forces and the martyrs.
The ceremony began with the hoisting of the National Flag by the High Commissioner. Special messages from the President, the Prime Minister, and the Deputy Prime Minister/Foreign Minister of Pakistan on the occasion, which highlighted the sacrifices of the founding fathers, the vision of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, the valor of Armed Forces of Pakistan and the resilience of Pakistani nation, were read out.
In his remarks, the High Commissioner said that the Independence Day is not only a time to celebrate the hard-won freedom but also a solemn occasion to honor those who defend it. He paid glowing tribute to the valiant Armed Forces of Pakistan for their befitting response in the face of Indian aggression in May 2025, stating that their courage, professionalism and unwavering resolve continue to be a source of pride for the nation. He emphasized that Marka-e-Haq stands as a national salute to the Shuhada (martyrs) and Ghazis (veterans) whose sacrifices have preserved Pakistan’s territorial integrity, sovereignty, security, dignity and honor. Muhammad Saleem also reaffirmed Pakistan’s steadfast support to the people of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu & Kashmir (IIOJK), condemning ongoing human rights violations and pledging continued political, diplomatic and moral support until the realization of their inalienable right to self-determination as envisaged in the relevant UN Security Council Resolutions. The Marka-e-Haq victory on both military and diplomatic fronts underscores the nation's resilience, unity and resolve to peace and prosperity, he added.
The event concluded with special prayers for the progress and prosperity of Pakistan and the strength of its Armed Forces. Members of the Pakistani diaspora, community elders and friends of Pakistan attended the event in large numbers, expressing their love for Pakistan.
