Pakistan Strengthens International Cooperation on Environment and Climate Action through High-Level Bilateral Engagements

Federal Minister for Climate Change and Environmental Coordination, Dr. Musadik Malik, held high-level meetings with Dr. Abdullah bin Abdulaziz, Minister of Environment and Climate Change of Qatar, and Mr. Ciobanu Dordea, Director for Circular Economy at the European Commission,Geneva to explore and enhance bilateral and multilateral cooperation on pressing environmental and climate-related challenges.

In his meeting with Dr. Abdullah bin Abdulaziz, Minister Dr. Malik discussed avenues to deepen collaboration in environmental protection, climate change adaptation, wildlife conservation, clean energy, and carbon market development.

Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to pursuing joint initiatives that would be mutually beneficial, particularly in areas such as petrochemical recycling technologies, carbon trading/offsets, and regional carbon market mechanisms.

During his interaction with Mr. Ciobanu Dordea, Minister Malik emphasized Pakistan’s growing commitment to the principles of the circular economy and sustainable development.

He underlined the need for global frameworks to better reflect the perspectives of developing countries and highlighted Pakistan’s efforts to transition toward a green economy through green cluster development and innovation-led partnerships.

Both meetings underscored Pakistan’s intent to leverage international partnerships to build capacity, access clean technologies, and facilitate economic cooperation through private sector engagement in green sectors.

The Qatari and EU sides appreciated Pakistan’s proactive environmental vision and welcomed its constructive role in advancing global sustainability goals.

Minister Dr. Musadik Malik reiterated Pakistan’s resolve to work closely with international partners to address common environmental challenges, accelerate the green transition, and contribute meaningfully to global climate action platforms.
