Lahore: May 02, 2025

Federal Minister for Railways Muhammad Hanif Abbasi made an unexpected visit to Lahore Railway Station, during which he expressed strong dissatisfaction with the poor cleanliness arrangements at the station.

The Minister immediately ordered the suspension of Divisional Medical Officer, Saima Mumtaz, and took note of the absenteeism of employees, reprimanding the Station Master of Lahore.

The Minister indicated that such actions, which go against public convenience and standard services, will not be tolerated in the future.

He also decided to grant permission to Provincial Food Authorities to inspect food quality at railway stations without prior approval, ensuring the provision of healthy and quality food to the public.

During the visit, the Federal Minister walked from the station to the washing line and took strict notice of the insufficient number of employees.

He ordered that all railway employees be called back immediately from their residences to improve the oversight and management at the railway station.

Muhammad Hanif Abbasi stated, “The current situation has arisen due to favoritism in appointments.

We have shown leniency, but now strict actions will be taken.”

He further mentioned that corruption cases will be referred to the FIA to address any unlawful activities.

The Federal Minister also visited the shrine of Hazrat Bibi Pak Daman in Lahore, where he offered a chadar (cloth) and prayed for the development and prosperity of the country.

The measures taken during the Minister’s visit are expected to improve the railway administration and enhance the quality of public services at railway stations.
