Islamabad: April 29, 2025

Federal Minister for Health, Mustafa Kamal, has extended an invitation to Chinese pharmaceutical and medical device companies to invest in Pakistan by establishing production units. Speaking at the 2025 International Medical and Innovation Center (IMIC) in Fangchenggang city, Minister Kamal highlighted Pakistan's growing healthcare sector and the government’s commitment to facilitating international investment.

Minister Kamal represented Pakistan at the prestigious IMIC forum and delivered remarks during the main session of the opening ceremony. The forum gathered distinguished leaders including Ms. Shen Yueyue, Vice Chairperson of the 14th National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) and Chairperson of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Good-Neighborliness, Friendship and Cooperation Commission; Mr. Chen Gang, Secretary of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Regional Committee of the Communist Party of China and Chairperson of the Standing Committee of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Regional People's Congress; the Secretary-General of the SCO; the Deputy Prime Minister of Belarus; health ministers from ASEAN and SCO member countries; and numerous medical experts. Senior leaders and delegates also delivered keynote addresses during the forum.

Following the inaugural ceremony, participants toured an exhibition featuring cutting-edge medical devices and innovative healthcare technologies.

In his speech, Minister Kamal underscored Pakistan’s efforts to bridge the gap between primary and secondary healthcare through the advancement of telemedicine projects. He highlighted the critical role of telemedicine in ensuring timely diagnosis and prevention of diseases, particularly in remote and underserved areas.

The Minister also announced a pioneering initiative aimed at safeguarding citizens' medical records by linking them with their national identity cards through NADRA (National Database and Registration Authority). He emphasized that fast access to comprehensive and authentic health data would significantly improve timely treatment and enable the government to develop more effective public health policies. This transformational move is expected to enhance disease diagnosis, prevention, and early intervention across the country.

Minister Kamal invited Chinese pharmaceutical and medical equipment companies to establish production units in Pakistan to manufacture high-quality products for both local and international markets. He also highlighted Pakistan’s commitment to promoting Traditional Chinese Medicine and assured that the government is implementing effective measures to facilitate and support foreign investors.

"The Government of Pakistan is fully committed to providing all necessary support and incentives to international investors in the health sector," Minister Kamal concluded.
