Federal Minister Syed Imran Ahmed Shah Visits Government Graduate College Sahiwal – Pays Tribute to Teachers on Teachers’ Honor Day

Federal Minister for Poverty Alleviation and Social Safety, Syed Imran Ahmed Shah, attended a special ceremony at Government Graduate College Sahiwal held in honor of Teachers’ Honor Day. Addressing the gathering as chief guest, the Minister highlighted the pivotal role of teachers in shaping the nation and reaffirmed the government’s unwavering commitment to education reform. “Teachers are the guiding lights who illuminate the path of knowledge for our future generations,” said the Federal Minister. Emphasizing both academic and moral education, he noted that teachers not only impart knowledge but also instill ethical values, making them the cornerstone of a progressive society. He reiterated that the government is actively pursuing initiatives to uplift the education sector, including the provision of scholarships and laptops to students to enhance educational quality and digital access. The Minister also praised Pakistan Bait-ul-Mal’s welfare efforts in Sahiwal, particularly in education. He shared that under the *Benazir Taleemi Wazaif Program, over 10.3 million children have benefited from scholarships totaling PKR 77 billion as of February 2025. He also highlighted the success of **Child Labour Schools, where children previously engaged in labor are now receiving free education, as well as **vocational training centers* that are equipping youth with skills to enhance employability. Reflecting on his own student life, Syed Imran Ahmed Shah shared that he is an alumnus of Government College Sahiwal and holds fond memories of his time there. He encouraged teachers to continue providing both worldly and spiritual guidance to students. Member Provincial Assembly, Malik Qasim Nadeem, also addressed the ceremony, describing teachers as “spiritual parents” who play a vital role in shaping the character of their students. The college principal, Professor Mumtaz Ahmed Wattoo, presented a detailed account of the college’s achievements. The ceremony concluded with the distribution of appreciation certificates to outstanding teachers by the chief guest and MPA Malik Qasim Nadeem. In his closing remarks, the Federal Minister commended the dedication of teachers and stated that the government is committed to building an equitable society in partnership with the teaching community.
