Federal Minister for Poverty Alleviation and Social Safety, Syed Imran Ahmed Shah, conducted an extensive visit to two major public hospitals in Sahiwal—Sahiwal Teaching Hospital and Haji Abdul Qayyum District Headquarters (DHQ) Hospital. The visit aimed to assess the quality of medical facilities and engage directly with patients to understand their challenges. “Providing free and quality healthcare to the underprivileged is not just a commitment—it is our duty,” stated the Federal Minister during his visit. He emphasized that the availability of essential medicines in all public hospitals is being ensured, and no shortage of resources will be allowed to hinder patient care. He also urged doctors and paramedical staff to treat their roles not merely as jobs but as spiritual and social responsibilities. During the visit, Syed Imran Ahmed Shah toured various wards, met with patients, and distributed Eid gifts as a gesture of compassion. He was accompanied by Principal of Sahiwal Medical College, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Imran Hassan Khan, Medical Superintendent Dr. Nisar Ahmad Saeedi, and officials from the Zakat, Bait-ul-Mal, and Social Welfare departments. The Minister underscored the need for collective efforts from doctors, hospital administration, and elected representatives to transform these hospitals into model healthcare facilities. He assured that current bottlenecks—including staff shortages—will be addressed on a priority basis to ensure timely and effective treatment. Highlighting the critical role of Pakistan Bait-ul-Mal (PBM), the Minister commended the organization for extending medical support to thousands across the country. He shared that this fiscal year alone, PBM has provided financial aid to countless deserving patients. Over the past decade, nearly *166,984 individuals* have benefited from PBM’s medical support programs, including treatments for cancer, kidney and heart diseases, thalassemia, hepatitis, and various surgeries. In Sahiwal as well, PBM is actively supporting free treatment and financial assistance for the needy. Syed Imran Ahmed Shah reiterated that the Ministry and PBM are working in close coordination to ensure that no citizen of Pakistan is deprived of access to essential healthcare services.
