Chairperson Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP), Senator Rubina Khalid, met with BISP staff and officers monitoring the distribution of Kafaalat stipend among deserving women at BISP headquarters today. The meeting aimed to discuss staff observations, challenges, and solutions to improve field operations during the nationwide quarterly tranche distribution under BISP. Speaking on the occasion, Senator Rubina Khalid stated that after assuming the role of Chairperson, she was instructed by the President of Pakistan, Asif Ali Zardari, to ensure that funds under BISP are distributed to deserving women in a dignified and transparent manner. She further announced that the pilot phase for opening bank accounts for women will commence soon, in consultation with the State Bank of Pakistan, to facilitate direct transfers of relief funds into beneficiaries' accounts, eliminating the risk of human intervention and unauthorized deductions. Addressing BISP staff and officers, Senator Rubina Khalid emphasized that it is everyone's responsibility to provide adequate facilities to deserving women visiting payment centers. She directed officials to prevent unnecessary overcrowding at campsites and to uphold the dignity and respect of the beneficiaries. She also instructed field staff to ensure a smooth and transparent distribution process and take strict action against any corrupt elements. Earlier, Director of Field Operations, Adnan Al Hassan, presented a detailed briefing to the Chairperson on the quarterly installment distribution process and the current payment system. Senator Rubina Khalid carefully listened to the concerns and suggestions of the employees and directed higher authorities to develop an effective strategy to address grievances and implement necessary improvements.
