Jam Kamal Khan Urges International Community and UN to Resolve Kashmir Dispute

Federal Minister for Commerce, Jam Kamal Khan, called upon the international community and the United Nations to take decisive action in resolving the Kashmir dispute, emphasizing the need for global awareness about the historical, legal, and humanitarian dimensions of the issue. Speaking as the chief guest at the Kashmir Solidarity Day event held at the Consulate General of Pakistan in Jeddah, the Minister condemned the Indian occupation of Jammu and Kashmir, terming it a moral and legal challenge to the global conscience and international legal framework. Jam Kamal Khan highlighted that Kashmir is not merely a territorial dispute but a grave humanitarian crisis requiring urgent international attention. He reaffirmed Pakistan’s unwavering diplomatic, political, and moral support for the Kashmiri people in their struggle for self-determination. The event, observed with traditional zeal and fervor by the Kashmiri and Pakistani community in Saudi Arabia, featured messages from the President of Pakistan, Prime Minister, and Deputy Prime Minister/Foreign Minister of Pakistan, underscoring the nation’s united stance on the Kashmir issue. Other notable speakers included Pakistan’s Ambassador to Saudi Arabia Ahmad Farooq, Ch. Javed Iqbal, Minister for Rehabilitation, Govt. of Azad Kashmir, Pakistan’s Permanent Representative to the OIC, Syed Muhammad Fawad Sher, Chairman Kashmir Committee Jeddah Masood Puri, and Eng. Arif Mughal, Acting Chairman of the Overseas Jammu and Kashmir Committee. Speakers collectively condemned India’s illegal and unilateral actions of August 5, 2019, which abrogated Jammu and Kashmir’s special status. They stressed that despite turning Kashmir into a fortified prison, India has failed to suppress the unyielding spirit of the Kashmiri people. They also highlighted gross human rights violations and India’s attempts to impose demographic changes in the region, calling on India to cease systematic, state-sponsored abuses in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK). In his welcome address, Consul General of Pakistan Khalid Majid expressed gratitude to Saudi leadership for their consistent support of the Kashmir cause and praised the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) for actively raising awareness about the plight of Kashmiris. He urged the international community and the UN to ensure that Kashmiris can exercise their right to self-determination in accordance with UN resolutions. A documentary was screened during the event, highlighting the suffering of Kashmiris under Indian occupation and the brutalities committed by the Indian military. Participants and speakers not only reiterated their commitment to supporting the Kashmiri struggle but also called for urgent international action to stop the ongoing genocide of Palestinians in Gaza. The event concluded with a strong message of solidarity and support for the people of Kashmir and Palestine, emphasizing the need for justice and human rights across all occupied territories. The gathering was attended by dignitaries, political figures, and civil society members from Jeddah, all united in their commitment to the cause.
