TIKTOK DELEGATION MEETS MINISTER OF STATE FOR IT SHAZA FATIMA
Islamabad: November 20, 2024

Delegation of TikTok led by its Director of Public Policy Mr. Emir Gelen, called on Minister of State for IT and Telecommunication Ms. Shaza Fatima Khawaja in her office on Wednesday. Matters of mutual interest and regarding the availability of quality and productive content on social media platforms were discussed in the meeting. Secretary IT Zarrar Hasham Khan was also present in the meeting. The delegation briefed the Minister of State for IT on TikTok's initiatives in Pakistan and upcoming programs. Minister of State for IT Shaza Fatima said TikTok has large number of users in Pakistan, and it is utmost necessary that quality content must be available on social media platforms. She said TikTok should also be used as platform for educational purposes, as various skills and basic education can be imparted through it. Ministry of IT will fully support TikTok for achieving this purpose, she added. The delegation assured Minister of State for IT that the TikTok will maximise meaningful and quality content, saying that TikTok wants to work with attached departments of Ministry of IT & Telecom.
