A flag hoisting ceremony was held at the Consulate General of Pakistan, Dubai to celebrate the 78th Independence Day of Pakistan. The event was attended by many Pakistani community members and their families. Independence Day’s messages from the President, Prime Minister and Deputy Prime Minister of Pakistan were read out on the occasion. Welcoming the guests, Hussain Muhammad, Consul General congratulated Pakistani community living in UAE on the 78th Independence Day of Pakistan. “Pakistan appeared on world map as the largest Muslim state on 14th August 1947 under the dynamic leadership of Quaid-i-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah. Our forefathers rendered countless sacrifices for the creation of an independent state where we can live with freedom, dignity, and self-respect”, said the Consul General. While paying tributes to the founding fathers of Pakistan, Mr. Hussain said that Pakistan has all the potential to overcome challenges. Mr. Hussain emphasised that Pakistan and UAE enjoy exceptionally cordial and brotherly relations which will further strengthen in future. He added that UAE is home to more than 1.7 million Pakistanis working in various sectors who have played a key role in the progress and development of this country. “I urge all Pakistani expats residing in UAE to obey and respect the local laws, norms and traditions of the host country and contribute positively to the society”, said the Consul General. During the ceremony, volunteers sang National songs.
