PR No. 140 PRESS RELEASE Pakistan, US agree to boost cooperation in IT, Telecom field ISLAMABAD, May 15, 2024

US Ambassador to Pakistan Mr. Donald Blome called on Minister of State for IT and Telecommunication Ms. Shaza Fatima Khawaja in her office on Wednesday. Matters of mutual interest and related to IT and Telecommunication, digitalization of Pakistan's judicial system and promotion of gaming industry were discussed in the meeting. The two sides agreed to enhance cooperation in IT and Telecommunication sector. While talking to US Ambassador, Minister of State for IT Shaza Fatima said that the IT and Telecom sector of Pakistan is progressing. She said that Pakistan wanted to enhance its relations with US in the field of IT and Telecom. Minister of State for IT Shaza Fatima said that Pakistan wanted to work on promotion of gaming industry with the collaboration of United States. She also emphasised upon increasing business to business relations between Pakistan and US. Pakistan aspired to benefit from the experiences of America in the field of technology, and exchange of IT experts between the two countries. Minister of State for IT said that present government is focusing on digitalization in the country. Economy, governance and society are being digitalised under Prime Minister's National Digitalization Plan, she maintained. Shaza Fatima noted that the connectivity is the foundation of digitalization, adding that steps are on for provision of connectivity and quality broadband services in the country. Minister of State for IT Shaza Fatima said that private sector has very important role in the uplift of economy, adding that private sector is being fully supported under the vision of the Prime Minister of Pakistan. US Ambassador Donald Blome said that US will fully cooperate with Pakistan in the field of IT and Telecommunication. The meeting was also attended by Additional Secretary MoITT, Aisha Humera Moriani, Member IT Syed Junaid Imam and Member Telecom Muhammad Jahanzeb Rahim.
