Special Assistant to the Prime Minister for Human Rights and Women Empowerment, Mushaal Hussein Mullick, has conveyed profound sorrow and condolences on the passing of the esteemed Kashmiri Leader, Professor Nazir Ahmed Shawl. Professor Shawl, who departed on Friday, December 29, 2023, dedicated his entire life to the Kashmiri freedom movement. Mushaal said that Professor Shawl’s legacy as a dedicated advocate for freedom and justice in the region will be remembered with great respect and admiration. The passing of Professor Nazir Ahmed Shawl is a moment of shared sorrow for Kashmiris and Pakistanis alike, as they mourn the loss of a genuine leader and ardent advocate for the rights and empowerment of the Kashmiri people, she added. Paying heartfelt tribute to Professor Shawl, Mushaal emphasized his diverse talents as a multilingual individual, educator, poet, and unwavering human rights advocate. She highlighted his steadfast support for the fundamental right to self-determination for the Kashmiri people. She noted that Professor Shawl's departure had left a significant void in the global advocacy for all oppressed communities worldwide. Mushaal prayed to Allah Almighty to rest the departed soul in eternal peace. She also prayed for strength and patience for the bereaved family to bear the weight of this loss.
