Islamabad: August 14, 2022

A flag hoisting ceremony was held at Pakistan House, Singapore, today to commemorate the 75th Independence Day of Pakistan, says a press release received here today from Singapore. The ceremony began with the recitation of the Holy Quran. High Commissioner, Ms. Rukhsana Afzaal, hoisted the flag to the tune of the National Anthem, followed by the messages of the President and the Prime Minister, read out by Press Counsellor, Mr. Muhammad Saleem, and Deputy High Commissioner, Ms. Farhana Asif, respectively. In her remarks, High Commissioner Ms. Rukhsana Afzaal paid glowing tributes to the Father of the Nation and other leaders of Muslim League for waging such a valiant struggle to get a separate homeland for millions of Muslims of Indo-Pakistan. She underscored that despite many challenges posed by regional and global geopolitical changes over the past few decades, especially India’s continued illegal occupation of J&K, Pakistan’s march on the path of progress continued. She flagged that being at the heart of BRI, Pakistan held a great promise as a regional connectivity hub. She also underscored Pakistan’s potential as an emerging IT market with the tremendous growth of fintechs and startups over the past few years. She added that the Pakistani youth was the real asset of the country who could put Pakistan on the path of peace, progress and prosperity through their dedicated and selfless efforts. The ceremony attended by a large cross-section of the Pakistani diaspora ended with prayers of peace, stability and prosperity for the country. Owing to Covid-19 pandemic, it was the first time in more than two years that a flag hoisting ceremony was held with the participation of the Pakistani Diaspora. Prior to the Independence Day ceremony, Pakistan High Commission organized a mango diplomacy campaign in coordination with TDAP, to commemorate Diamond Jubilee of Pakistan’s Independence.
