PR No. 172 RESUMPTION OF PALM OIL SUPPLY TO PAKISTAN FEDERAL MINISTER FOR INDUSTRIES, PRODUCTION AWARDED WITH SOUVENIR Islamabad: June 17, 2022

Federal minister for industries and production has been awarded with a souvenir by the prime minister in recognition of his efforts to resume import of palm oil from Indonesia. The federal minister for industries and production Makhdood Murtaza Mahmud along with secretary of the ministry, Imdadullah Bosal called on the Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif here on Friday after completing his successful visit to Jakarta. The prime minister appreciated the special efforts of the federal minister and awarded him with a souvenir for his role in resumption of the edible oil and visit to Indonesia at his own expense. The federal minister visited Indonesia leading a delegation from 12- 14 June 2022 in order to ensure the steady flow of the commodity in the Pakistani market. Pakistan is the third largest importer of palm oil as it had imported 2.78 million tons of palm oil from Indonesia last year. The federal minister met with the Indonesian Minister of Trade Muhammad Lutfi, Minister of Industry Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita and Coordinating Minister of Maritime and Investment Affairs Luhut Binsar Panjaitan for the purpose during his visit. Following the efforts of the minister, 10 ships loaded with 2.5 million metric tons of edible oil are being supplied to Pakistan from Indonesia.
