Prime Minister Imran Khan chaired a meeting regarding establishment of Special Technology Zones in the country.
The meeting was attended by Minister for Science & Technology Mr. Shibli Faraz, Chief Minister GB Mr. Khalid Khurshid, SAPM Dr. Shehbaz Gill, Minister for IT Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Mr. Atif Khan, Minister for Industries Balochistan Haji Muhammad Khan Toor, Minister for IT Punjab Mr. Humayun Yasir and senior officials. Prime Minister AJ&K, Chief Minister Punjab, Chief Minister Balochistan and provincial representatives joined via video link.
Chairman STZA Mr. Samir Hashmi briefed the meeting regarding progress of establishment of STZs in the country and facilities to be provided to investors.
It was apprised that the objectives of establishing STZs include technology transfer, attracting foreign investments, human resource capacity building, research & development, generating employment opportunities and to enhance exports. Detailed briefing was given regarding incentives provided for investors in the STZs by the Federal government.
The Prime Minister said that promotion of technology, strong partnership among educational institutions, industry and government; and skills enhancement of youth are the foremost priority of the government.
PM stated that the government is providing incentives to investors in Pakistan’s STZs comparable to any other part of the world.
In order to remove hurdles in way of investors, the Prime Minister directed to ensure one-window operations.
The Prime Minister directed provincial governments to take full advantage of upcoming Expo in Dubai by promoting incentives provided in STZs.
