This was said by Federal Minister for National Food Security and Research (NFS&R), Syed Fakhr Imam on Thursday while presiding the diplomatic session of NLLC. Federal Minister was of the point of view that NDMA is helping to meet the needs of anti-locust.
The purpose of the meeting is to inform the diplomatic community about the anti-locust operation.The participants were briefed about locusts situation in the country by Deputy Coordinator NLCC, General Saeed Akhtar. Federal Secretary National Food Security, Umar Hamid also asked international community for cooperation in anti locust s operation.He mentioned that sharing of timely information among locusts infested coutries is very important. Dr Christian Turner, British High Commissioner to Pakistan said that UK has given £1 million to the UN Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO) to tackle swarms of locusts in Pakistan. He added that 20 of 83 micron sprayers as part of a UK aid package has been handed over.Mina Dowlatchahi, the FAO representative in Pakistan appreciated efforts of Ministry of NFS&R and NLCC for anti locusts operation.
