President Dr. Arif Alvi has emphasized the need for digital transformation of the country as it would play vital role in improving the economy of Pakistan. He said that the current economic and governance challenge could be met by adopting the Information and Communications Technologies (ICTs). He expressed these views while chairing the 3rd Meeting of Committee on Emerging Technologies, at Aiwan-e-Sadr, today. The meeting was attended by Chairman, Prime Minister’s Task Force on Science & Technology, Dr. Atta-ur-Rehman, Secretary Information Technology, Mr. Shoaib Ahmad Siddique, Special Secretary Commerce, Mr. Muhammad Saleh Faruqi, Deputy Governor State Bank of Pakistan, Mr. Jamil Ahmad, Members of Committee on Emerging Technologies and Provincial Secretaries Information Technology.
The committee members gave a comprehensive presentation, through video conference from provincial capitals, and highlighted the significance of e-commerce, IT exports and Innovation of Emerging Technologies. The meeting was briefed that knowledge economy and e-commerce had great potential to improve economy of the country. Highlighting the significance of code of governance, the President said it was essential to develop a code of governance, based on international standard, that would greatly help in increasing the efficiency of government.
