Ministry of Water & Power clarifies the news reports regarding addition of new power generation to the system in 2017. It has been reiterated by the Ministry on several occasions that an estimated 10000-11000 MWs of new generation is expected to be brought on the grid in 2017-18. This figure is expected to come in the next two years 2017 & 2018 and not in the single year of 2017. It may further be added that out of this capacity, a major portion of around 8000 MWs is expected by January 2018, thus lead to tame loadshedding by the end of 2017.
