With reference to the news report published in a section of press on 12th March, 2019 regarding summoning of Mr. Muhammad Faisal Vawda, Federal Minister for Water Resources, by “Senate Special Committee to provide mechanism for implementation of recommendations of the Committees adopted by the House”; it is to bring on record that neither the Federal Minister has been summoned by the Senate Special Committee nor as per Senate rules said Committee has the powers to do so. This was confirmed by the Office of the Chairman Senate as well as by Mr. Senator Shammim Afridi, Chairman Senate Committee on Water Resources. The Federal Minister has been regularly attending all meetings of the Senate Standing committee on Water since his appointment in the office and any absence, if at all, was duly informed well in time along with reasons of non-availability. The news report is baseless and caution must be observed before publishing such news item. *-*-*-*
