PR No.02 Ambassador Hosts Pakistani Academics Dinner Islamabad: December 1, 2015

In continuation of the Mission’s Public Diplomacy efforts with special focus on Education, Ambassador Farukh Amil hosted Pakistani Academics’ Dinner at Pakistan Residence. The dinner brought together over 40 Pakistani academics, intelligentsia, scholars and researchers who are currently pursuing research and higher studies in different disciplines especially in Science and Technology in Japan, says a press release received here today from Tokyo.

The Ambassador acknowledged the excellent work being done by Pakistani Academics and said that they held the promise of a bright future for Pakistan. He underscored that it was extremely important to establish close linkages between the universities and students of Japan and Pakistan. Appreciating their positive role in the field of education, Ambassador emphasized that they could contribute immensely in image building and creating a bridge between people of the two countries as well as building bridges with the Pakistani community. The Ambassador stressed that such unity and fusion of purpose would be extremely beneficial and accordingly had invited sister Government organizations present in Japan: National Bank of Pakistan (NBP) and Pakistan International Airlines (PIA). General Manager NBP Mr. Ashfaq Khan stressed the need to believe in ourselves and in our country and young scholars like them would make a real difference. Country Manager PIA Abdul Jawad Khan emphasized on the need to learn from Japanese people, their development and society and inculcate the same in our country. Ambassador also highlighted Prime Minister’s vision of a “Peaceful Neighbourhood” for development and harmonious co-existence with dignity. He especially outlined Pakistan’s sacrifices and contributions for world peace through Peacekeeping activities. He urged the academics to return to Pakistan upon completion of their studies so as to share their knowledge base particularly with the youth.

President Pakistan Students Association of Japan (PSAJ) Mr. Baber Sajjad encouraged Academics to contribute in projecting soft image of Pakistan through arranging different activities in their respective universities and institutions. Dr. Muhammad Ibrahim Postdoctoral Fellow emphasized that on completion of higher studies the first priority of all of them should be Pakistan to serve especially rural areas and small cities.
