PR No.287 BAHRAINI BUSINESS DELEGATION LED BY MINISTER OF COMMERCE ARRIVES IN PAKISTAN : JAVED MALIK LARGEST EVER BUSINESS DELEGATION FROM ANY GULF COUNTRY FOREIGN INVESTORS COMING TO PAKISTAN INDICATES POSITIVE ECONOMIC DIPLOMACY Islamabad: March 28, 2017

Bahrain’s Minister of Commerce, Industry and Tourism, Zayed R. Alzayani is leading a high level Bahraini official and business delegation to Pakistan to take part in the Pakistan Bahrain Business Opportunities Conference being organized in Islamabad jointly by Ministry of Commerce and the Pakistan Embassy in the Kingdom of Bahrain.  Upon arriving in Islamabad, Javed Malik, Pakistan’s Ambassador to Bahrain said that “it is for the first time that such a large business delegation is coming from any gulf country to Pakistan, as we expect the total number to exceed 100.  The Bahrain Chamber of Commerce Chairman, Khalid Al Moayyed is himself here along with prominent Bahraini businessmen that include Sheikh Mohammed Bin Ishaaq, Isa Najeebi, Chairman Al Seef Properties, Khalid Al Zayani, Ahmed Bin Hindi, Mohammed Al Kojeehi, Talal Kanoo, Rashid Al Hammer, Sajid Izaar Ulhaq, Mohammad Othman, and several others.    Javed Malik said that it was a visible sign of the success of the first Pakistan Bahrain Conference in Bahrain that such a large delegation of business leaders are coming to Pakistan. As a tangible outcome of our efforts, the Bahraini businessmen have already established a company by the name of “Pakistan Bahrain Holding company” that brings together prominent Bahraini investors who would explore opportunities of business, trade and investment in Pakistan.  He further added that it was Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s vision to make Pakistan a destination that welcomes international businessmen and the arrival of Arab and International businessmen to Pakistan is a tribute to the Prime Minister’s positive and investor friendly policies that have encouraged investors to come to Pakistan.

Speaking about the conference, Ambassador Javed Malik said that, Pakistan’s Minister of Commerce, Khurram Dastagir Khan, and his Bahraini counter part would co-chair the Pakistan Bahrain Business Opportunities Conference 2017 in Islamabad. Additionally a Business to Business session would be co-chaired by Khalid Al Moayyed, Chairman Bahrain Chamber of Commerce, and Mr. Zubair Tufail, President FPCCI in addition to a joint meeting of Pakistan Bahrain Business Council whereas B2B business networking sessions are also being organized. He said that the initiative by Pakistan Embassy to hold this conference with the support of the Ministry of Commerce was very positively received in the Bahrain and surrounding Gulf countries, and there has been a growing interest across the Gulf, and in addition to more than 100 businessmen, overseas Pakistani businessmen from Gulf countries including UAE, Qatar and Saudi Arabia are also taking part in this conference.  He said that, Pakistan offers some of the best business opportunities however, more needs to be done to properly project our potential and this initiatives is one step in that direction.
