The Minister of Commerce Engr. Khurram DastgirKhan met the Party Secretary of CPC of Yunnan Province Mr. Li Jiheng today in Kunming, China. The Minister is visiting Kunming to lead Pakistan’s delegation to the 4th China-South Asia Expo beingheld from 12-17 June, 2016, says a press release received here today from Beijing.
The two leaders expressed satisfaction on the very successful Expo, especially Pakistan’s active participation with the largest country pavilion. They also exchanged views on the current status of Yunnan province’s economic and commercial ties with Pakistan and agreed to focus on ways and means to further promote these ties in a comprehensive manner. The Minister of Commerce said that the two sides should also discuss the modalities for enhancing the volume and range of our mutual trade. He suggested that bringing Pakistani agricultural products like rice and fruits to Yunnan could be an important first step in this direction. The Yunnan Party Secretary agreed that the two sides needed to work closely in this area.
?In addition, it was also agreed that concerted efforts will be made to enhance people to people contacts and cooperation in important fields of science and technology, culture, tourism, and education.
The Commerce Minister invited the Governor to lead a business delegation to Pakistan to take the momentum forward in further strengthening Pakistan’s commercial and economic ties with Yunnan Province. Governor Chen Hao accepted the invitation with gratitude.
