PR No. 223 Pakistan-Kenya Bilateral Political Consultations Islamabad

Ambassador Mohammad Waheed-ul-Hasan, Special Secretary Ministry of Foreign Affairs, led Pakistan delegation for the Pakistan-Kenyan Secretary-Level Bilateral Political Consultations in Nairobi on 26 January 2016. The Kenyan delegation was led by the Political and Diplomatic Secretary of the Kenyan Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The two sides reviewed the state of bilateral relations including political, economic, trade, security and consular facets.

Both sides agreed to take concrete measures to enhance bilateral ties, especially to increase bilateral trade, which has a lot of scope.

It was also agreed to take tangible steps to improve conditions for businessmen, students and tourists. The two sides also agreed to have parliamentary exchanges.

The two sides exchanged views on the UN reforms and agreed to further expand cooperation in the international and regional organizations.

Regional situation in the respective neighbourhood of the two countries, including East African Community (EAC), Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa (COMESA), African Union (AU), and SAARC was also discussed. The Special Secretary briefed the Kenyan side on China Pakistan Economic Corridor. He also apprised his interlocutors of the policy of good neighbourly relations being pursued by Pakistan.

The two sides agreed to exchange high-level visits that provide impetus to bilateral relations.
