Federal Minister for Planning, Development & Reform Makdum Khusro Bakhtyar has said that the government is committed to reforming the energy sector to improve the national grid connectivity and is also focused on improving and reducing the losses of discos to manage the circular debt. The Minister was speaking during a ceremony held in connection with the 330 MW Thar Energy Limited project in Beijing, China. For the 330 MW Thar Energy Limited project, the fuel supply is our indigenous coal and the structuring of this project is being done through a consortium of business leaders from Pakistan and China which is equally supported by the financial institutions of the two countries, stated the Minister. These are the models which I hope will leave the way for structuring of future Joint Ventures and economic partnerships and today I want to reassure that investors will be facilitated in all possible way. The presence of all stakeholders including representatives of Pakistan's power sector, and Chairman NTDC is a testimony to our commitment that investment in Pakistan's energy sector will yield the desired profitability projections under which investors and companies have come together, underlined the Minister. Makhdum Khusro said that Pakistan is fully committed to adhere to its obligations in implementation of various projects.
