PR No. 52 Traditional Chaddar From Pakistan Offered At Rouza Sharif Of Hazrat Mujadid Alf Sani In Sirhind Islamabad: November 11th, 2018

The traditional chaddar on behalf of the people and government of Pakistan was offered at the Shrine of Sheikh Faruqi Sirhindi (Mujaddid Alf Sani) in the Indian state of Punjab, today., says a press release received from New Delhi here today. Pakistan's High Commissioner to India Sohail Mahmood travelled from New Delhi to Sirhind Sharif to take part in the chaddar-laying ceremony, along with the visiting Zaireen (pilgrims) from Pakistan. This year, 144 Pakistani Zaireen are visiting Sirhind in connection with the annual Urs celebrations and to pay obeisance at the Shrine. The High Commissioner was welcomed by Sajjada Nasheen Khalifa Syed Mohammed Sadiq Raza, other trustees, and members of local administration. The Pakistani Zaireen and the High Commissioner offered special Dua, after laying the chaddar. Later, the High Commissioner held an interactive session with Pakistani Zaireen, who shared their observations and suggestions. The pilgrims also expressed thanks to the Pakistan government and staff of the High Commission for facilitating their visit. High Commissioner Sohail Mahmood thanked Khalifa Syed Mohammad Sadiq Raza and all others concerned who extended cooperation in the travel and stay of the visiting Pakistani Zaireen. The High Commissioner also highlighted the role of visits to religious shrines (under the 1974 Protocol) in the context of people-to-people exchanges between Pakistan and India. ***
