ADDRESS BY THE PRIME MINISTER OF PAKISTAN MUHAMMAD NAWAZ SHARIF ON THE GRADUATION PARADE OF 137 GD (P), 83 ENGINEERING, 93 AIR DEFENCE, 18 A&SD, 06 NAVIGATION AND 02 LOGISTICS COURSES ON 11TH APRIL, 2017.

Air Chief Marshal Sohail Aman, Chief of the Air Staff, Pakistan Air Force,

Air Vice Marshal Imran Khalid, Air Officer commanding, PAF Academy Asghar Khan,

Distinguished Guests,

Graduating Cadets,

Ladies and Gentlemen!

It gives me immense pleasure to be a part of the graduation ceremony of the combined courses of the College of Flying Training and Aeronautical Engineering. The memorable parade I have just witnessed is a testimony to the highest standards of training and discipline associated with the PAF Academy. On this auspicious occasion, I congratulate all the graduating cadets and their parents, who must have awaited this day with great hope and aspiration. Today’s distinction holders and winners of the coveted swords of honor deserve my profound appreciations.

My dear graduating Cadets!

A Graduation ceremony is always a deeply cherished moment. This day is a milestone in your careers that you will never forget. It will live in your memories for all times to come. Your sincere dedication, enthusiasm and hard work towards achieving your goal have finally been rewarded. But never forget that You also owe this day to your parents and your instructors. Their hard work, care, and solicitude have made the greatest contribution in your success.

You are now joining professional life, which puts immense responsibilities and obligations on your shoulders.

This is no ordinary graduation ceremony. You are today inheriting the mantle of heroes past, who despite being outgunned and outnumbered defended this land with exemplary courage and with no regard for their own safety. I am certain you will serve this country with the same complete commitment, unwavering dedication, and absolute earnestness of purpose. Only this will justify the trust that your nation has placed in you.

The profession of arms demands perseverance and hard work. The unprecedented pace of development in military technology puts an additional onus on you. You must not leave any stone unturned in the performance of your duties and to continuously improve and hone your skills and expertise. There are no shortcuts to success. The only way forward is hard work. It is only relentless commitment that would make you excel and prosper in your careers. It should be your passion, as defenders of Pakistan’s air space, to pursue professional commitments with unswerving zeal and determination to maintain the country’s air arm as ‘second to none’. You must immerse yourselves wholeheartedly in your respective areas, and devote every ounce of your energies to the cause for which you have taken a pledge of honor.

Ladies and Gentlemen!

Pakistan is a peace loving country and has always followed the policy of maintaining friendly relations with other countries, particularly, its neighbors. We want a peaceful neighborhood. Cooperation rather than conflict should be its hallmark. Shared prosperity rather than mutual suspicion should be among its defining features. Pakistan, for its part will never hesitate to extend the hand of friendship to all and shall never waver from returning goodwill with even more goodwill. This is in line with the vision of our founding father.

At the same time, despite our earnest desire for peaceful coexistence, we cannot afford to remain oblivious to defending our sovereignty and protecting our independence.

We are living in a rapidly evolving world. The traditional concept of national security has undergone a transformation. Today, war is no longer the exclusive sphere of military forces. As long as nations strive to preserve their way of life, ideological identity, and economic  interests, wars will continue to be waged in different domains.

Dear Shaheens of Pakistan !

You must dedicate your energies and abilities to make Pakistan a fully secure and well-defended country. The whole nation stands behinds you. Pakistan’s Armed Forces are fully capable and prepared to respond to any spectrum of threat. Operations against terrorists have brought tremendous improvement in the internal security environment. The PAF, alongside guarding the air space of the country, has played a critical role in operation ‘Zarb-e-Azb’. True to its glorious traditions of defending national interests at every front, it has once again given an excellent account of itself in the fight against terrorists. The nation  acknowledges and commends the exemplary valour and outstanding professionalism exhibited by the Pakistan Air Force and its leadership at all tiers.

Before I conclude, I would like to extend, once again, my profound congratulations to all the graduating cadets. I would also like to commend Air Vice Marshall Imran Khalid and the faculty of the PAF Academy for maintaining the highest standards of excellence and professionalism.

I wish you all, good luck and happiness in the days ahead. May Allah Almighty always guide and help you.

Pakistan Paindabad.
