A delegation for United States Pharmacopeia headed by Emily M Kaine Senior Vice President, GPH, USP along with Jude Nwokike, Senior Director, PQM, USP, Syed Khalid Saeed Bukhari, Chief of Party, PQM, USP, Pakistan called on Federal Minister for National Health Services Aamer Mehmood Kiani here today. The delegation shared its support being provided to DRAP to make it self sufficient body. The sustainable support by USP staff for self-assessment of 09 regulatory functions based on WHO Global Benchmarking tool and development of institutional plans for Level III compliance were also discussed. Quality Management System is one of the major institutional development plan and step towards achieving Level III compliance and beyond. USP is extending its support to DRAP for achieving ISO 9001:2015. USP is also providing its support for LQMS for Central Drug Testing Laboratory, Karachi. Development of Integrated Regulatory Information Management System (IRIMS) Software is major joint venture between DRAP and USP, after the completion of this system Pakistan will be among few countries in Asia who is going to implement this system. Through IRIMS registration, licensing and dossiers screening functions will be improved for transparency of decision making process for product marketing authorizations. At this juncture of meeting, Emily informed that a meeting was also held with CEO DRAP Sheikh Akhter Hussain and other DRAP Officials to identify hurdles and achieving milestones yesterday. The Federal Minister Aamer Mehmood Kiani appreciated USP cooperation and continuous support being provided to DRAP. He said that we are making every effort to strengthen DRAP in accordance with the Health Vision of Prime Minister Imran Khan. *-*-*-*
